From the very start, Cara & Grady were planning to create a wedding day that was more of a “party” than a traditional wedding (music to our ears). They wanted a day that was very much for them and for their family – screw traditions. They’re not overly formal people and they definitely like to do things a little differently – shots of Sambuca during the ceremony to honour Grady’s lost brother, and burnouts in the old holden cars during photo time were a couple of very rad highlights to the day.
In our first catch up with them they told us about how they’d just locked in Quirindi Stables as thier wedding venue, out near Daylesford in country Victoria. A gorgeous horse stables out in the country with a rustic vibe and plenty of room for them to bring their own style & vision for the day to life. Horses wandering around; food trucks for catering; amazing floral arrangements; these cute chalkboards; copper lighting everywhere – all the amazing little touches that made the day perfect. Cara described the day as “Rustic Glam”. Yeah, we were very keen to get involved!
Here’s a few of our favourite images from Cara & Grady’s Quirindi Stables wedding.
Cara chose a beautiful Grace Loves Lace gown to wear for her wedding dress.
From Cara: “As my Dad walked me down the aisle there was the stables owner’s cat who also joined us and walked behind us all the way to the bridal party. My Nana told me afterwards that my late Mum loved cats and we are sure that was her was of being there.”
Cara chose the most amazing florals from Wootton & Nicholls that fit the country vibe perfectly.
Of course, as we love to do, we saved a little time aside during the reception to take Cara & Grady out for a little peaceful wander out in the fields around Quirindi Stables for some bonus photos in that warm evening light just as sunset hit.
A few words from Cara:
“I knew instantly Glen & Fiona were “our sort of people”; down to earth, sense of humour & open to letting us do some non-traditional wedding day antics! We had fun, they kept us on schedule & made themselves a part of our wedding crew. Oh & our photos are incredible, 6 months later I still can’t choose a favourite. No hesitation in recommending Glen & Fiona at Lionheart Photography.”
